Happy New Year All!!

Finally the long anticipated wait of my finished umf kind of a bike has come to an end!

Last week I drove over to Belville with great trepidation to pick up my bike - something that costs an arm and a leg, and has been giving me sleepless nights for the past 5 months! She rides like a dream :) but there are a few minor changes needed to get that perfect touring / upright posture I'm looking for. After getting a seat post with a setback and a more angled handlebar, she will...

Howzit All

Sorry I have been scarce for a while - been working my **** off to save and fund this trip!

Since my last blog I've come a long way with regard to bike building.  It has been a real struggle to source / pay and ship the parts I wanted.  Companies not shipping parts to S.A;  credit card payments bouncing 2 weeks into shipping;  invalid tracking numbers;  incorrect parts being shipped and South African post offices taking 2 weeks to process mail once it arrives are just some of the mi...

Everything is finally starting to fall into place and from here on we will be focusing mainly on the fundraising drive.

The SiyaShova team has decided to donate the first R50 000 raised to a candidate in desperate need of funds and short of time for their implantation.  Hopefully by doing this we can help someone even before we pedal of in March 2011.

Hear Us has chosen Jody Daniels, a loving 13 yr old gir...

The wheels are starting to turn...

Posted by Ria Moothilal on Friday, June 4, 2010,
Hello everyone

Welcome to our site. We'll be using this blog to keep you updated on our preperations and come next year March, we'll be using it to update you on our travels!

So we've finally decided on a site name "SiyaShova.com" - comes from the Zulu language. We wanted something from a local South African language. Zulu is the big language in KwaZulu-Natal, the province from which both Imraan and I come from. We like it. After all this is about a trip across Africa, undertaken by South Afri...
